I had the honor of sitting down with Jim & Ashley Mason and Dave Lyons in the legendary Southern Sportsman Lodge to talk about he rich history of the lodge. Jim & Dave started taking pay hunters in 1982 when farmers were going out of business and looking for ways to create revenue to save the property. When they started a pay to hunt business it was a lot of sceptics but 40 years later, The Southern Sportsman Lodge is one of the most famous and legendary hunting lodges in the nation and certainly in the Alabama Black Belt. Hosting the Buckmasters Classic for 15 years put them in contact with some of the nations top celebrities and hunters. Jim and Dave have that unique ability to draw you right into a story when telling it. I have done a lot of interviews and talked with a lot of folks but I can tell you it don't get no better than this. Enjoy!! BDL
